Day 519 - Quilotoa, Ecuador - 10410 km

Crater Lake Quilotoa reveals itself after a climb to the rim at 3900m. Two long days on sandy roads through the beautiful canyons around. I stayed in a cabin just under the rim where I arrived in thick fog. Rain season has started so the chances on a clear view are sparse, the best moments are usually early morning.

I was lucky with the weather. The lake has a deep green colour and from the rim there are far views on the surrounding canyons. The walk around the entire lake is 12 km, but the bike trip offeres me enough exersize so I kept it to a short walk before I continued my ride through the valley.
